Minecraft is a game about breaking and placing blocks. At first, people built structures to protect against nocturnal monsters, but as the game grew players worked together to create wonderful, imaginative things. It can also be about adventuring with friends or watching the sun rise over a blocky ocean. It's pretty. Here's the catch: This game is about building. Lots of different blocks to build stuff with. Lots of different stuff to build with, for that matter. If you think otherwise, um, I'm not sure where you've been playing this game because it's not about building things in particular. No, Minecraft is about creating your own world. Sure, you can build things on someone else's world if they're playing online with you, but you're not actually doing anything to their world. You're creating your own world. When you build stuff or dig around in your world, the game is recording what you do. If you go back to where you've been before (like if someone on Earth asks for directions), it will remember the things that happened there. You can even change how your character's skin looks by painting it on! As of version 1.8, Mojang released a new launcher that replaces the old launcher that came with Minecraft since Alpha 1.2.6a.. This new launcher has a lot of new features added since the release of the original launcher. When Minecraft is launched, its failure to locate an update is due to the lack of a ".minecraft" folder. It does not exist for all users by default, and can be created in one's "Documents" folder or in the root directory. In the latter case, it will create one if it does not already exist upon launching Minecraft. As with previous launchers pre-1.8, there are two launch buttons on this launcher - "Play" and "Profile". Clicking either button will launch minecraft with either a new world or show the existing world respectively. There are five tabs on the launcher screen, each one containing links to the popular Minecraft forums. Although clicking on these links is not required for launching the game, it does allow users to communicate with people who have the same game as them and share their experiences with other players. Once a user has selected a world name and clicked "Play", this will open up the main menu of Minecraft. They will find themselves in their own private world. There are several options available here: create new world, edit current world, change resolution, etcetera. The settings button can be used to set different settings for different worlds and load screens. cfa1e77820
